đ December 21st Devotional: The Shepherds Were Invited First
They werenât royalty.
They werenât scholars.
They werenât even clean by temple standards.
But the shepherds were the first to hear the news.
âAn angel of the Lord appeared to them⌠âToday in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.ââ â Luke 2:9â11
God didnât send the angels to the palace.
He sent them to the pasture.
To the overlooked. The ordinary. The ones working the night shift.
đ Godâs Invitation Is for Everyone
The shepherds remind us that Jesus came for all â not just the polished, but the present. Not just the powerful, but the willing.
đ God Speaks in the Fields
You donât have to be in a sanctuary to hear Him. He speaks in the quiet places. In the middle of your work. In the middle of your weariness.
đ The Shepherds Didnât Delay
âLetâs go to Bethlehem and seeâŚâ â Luke 2:15
They didnât wait for confirmation. They didnât clean up first. They ran toward the promise.
This Christmas, remember:
You are invited.
Not because youâve earned it â but because He loves you.
Not because youâre ready â but because He is.
Â
A Prayer to Receive the Invitation
Jesus,
Thank You for inviting the shepherds â
and thank You for inviting me.
I donât have to be perfect.
I donât have to be important.
I just have to say yes.
Speak to me in the quiet places.
Call me in the middle of my ordinary.
And help me run toward You â
with joy, with faith, with awe.
You came for all.
And I receive Your invitation.
Amen.
