🕊️ The Real Black Friday: A Note to Good Friday
The world calls it Black Friday — a day of deals, doorbusters, and dizzying crowds. But long before the sales and the shopping carts, there was another Friday. A darker one. A holier one. A Friday that changed everything.
On that hill called Calvary, the sky turned black. The veil tore. The earth shook. And the Son of God gave His life — not for a discount, but for deliverance.
“It is finished.”
Not a clearance. A covering.
Not a markdown. A mercy.
This is the real Black Friday.
And it leads us straight to Good Friday.
Because what looked like loss was actually love.
What felt like defeat was divine redemption.
And what the enemy meant for death, God used to open the door to eternal life.
🖤 A Different Kind of Exchange
On the cross, Jesus took our sin and gave us His righteousness. He bore our shame and gave us His peace. He paid the highest price — not with silver or gold, but with His blood — so we could walk free.
🖤 A Different Kind of Doorbuster
The tomb didn’t stay sealed. The stone was rolled away. And the door to grace was flung wide open. No line. No limit. Just love.
🖤 A Different Kind of Receipt
You don’t need to prove your worth. The receipt was written in red. Paid in full. Once and for all.
So this Friday — whether you’re shopping or staying home — pause. Remember. Give thanks. The greatest gift has already been given.
A Prayer of Gratitude for the Cross
Jesus,
Thank You for the real Black Friday —
for the cross that bore my shame,
for the blood that covered my sin,
for the love that didn’t wait for me to earn it.
In a world chasing bargains,
remind me that I’ve already been bought with a price.
Let me live like someone redeemed —
not rushed, not restless, but rooted in grace.
May every Friday — and every day —
be a note to Good Friday.
A reminder that You are enough.
And that I am Yours.
Amen.
